Emanuela holds a PhD in Computer Science from Paris-Saclay University (University of Paris-Sud 11) and is a research scientist at the EPFL Digital Humanities Laboratory. Before joining impresso, she held various research positions at LAL Orsay, University of La Rochelle and (industry-based) Teklia. Emanuela’s research interests are in natural language processing (NLP) and deep learning, with a focus on information extraction (entities, relations, events, etc.) from historical (digitised) documents.
Within impresso, Emanuela is responsible for developing advanced named entity processing approaches, extracting quotes, segmenting and classifying media content, as well as contributing to the semantic indexing integration of media archives.
